Data Visualization and Analytics

Learning how your school strategies are carried out and determining its effectiveness are essential steps to achieving School Outcomes.

We cannot review what we cannot visualize and analyze. You want to draw insights from your data. You want to tell a story and make data-informed decisions in conjunction with your practice wisdom.

​

In school, data whether mandatory or otherwise are typically collected in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Student Character & Leadership and Staff development & performance.  These data could be quantitative and qualitative gathered from tests, examinations, MOE surveys, school administered surveys, questionnaires, observations and third-party sources.

With data

  • You can affirm your experience to confidently maintain your strategy and operational actions

  • You are presented with certain phenomena and by asking “the why question” to enable deeper analysis to shed light on blind spots

  • You can predict probable behaviour and extrapolate future performance

 

While data can provide insights and enhance decision making, users must be mindful of its ethical and responsible usage. Data can be selectively presented to justify a means to an end.

In this workshop, you will learn how to systematically evaluate your school plan with data in line with SEM 3.0 using the PIRO approach. You will be refreshed on gathering useful data. You will learn the principles and techniques of data visualization, data triangulation and analysis. You will unlearn and relearn to appreciate the power of infographics using graphs, charts and other forms of visual representation, so as to comprehend trends, patterns and anomalies for simple to complex sense making and analysis of data for decision making. You will also learn how to develop dashboards and reports that communicate meaningful insights. Data analytics is the new normal. Building on your familiarity with descriptive and diagnostic analytics, the course will enhance your understanding and knowledge of predictive analytics.

  • Plan-Implement-Review-Outcome (PIRO) in the context of translating your School Strategy and Plan into actions for desired outcomes

  • School Data Management System supporting Assessment & Review

  • Understanding data, gathering data from multiple sources, and performing simple Data Exploratory Analysis

  • The ethical and responsible use of data

  • Techniques in data Visualization

  • Understanding data and information through observation, triangulation and analytics

  • Dashboarding using Microsoft Excel and Power BI

  • Interpreting and presenting a data story for decision making

  • ​School Leaders, Key Personnel and Staff who are responsible to plan, implement and review the school and department plans. Staff who are involved in the SEM review and assessment process will greatly benefit from this course.

WORKSHOP FEE

$ 450 per participant

 

The 1-day Training Workshop will be from 9am to 5pm.

 

Venue for the training at a convenient location will be advised at a later date.

 

The Workshop fee includes Training material and two refreshments per day.

Lunch is not included.
